Councillor Charlotte Haitham Taylor is the Conservative Party’s candidate for the northern constituency in next year’s General Election.
Cllr Haitham Taylor, who has served as Wokingham Borough Council’s executive member for children’s services since 2012, is fighting to become North West Durham’s first Conservative MP.
She said: “It is a real honour to be chosen as the Conservative candidate for North West Durham, an area that means a lot to me as my family have come from there for about three or four hundred years.
“It is very Labour up there with only a very small Conservative majority, so I will have a mountain to climb to win any votes. This is the start of a long journey and this seems like a great place to try my trade.”
