Maria works as a Cancer Research nurse at the Royal Marsden hospital in London specialising in the field of breast cancer research. She lives close to the village of Falmer with her partner Steve and is actively involved in the local community which includes her work as an urban shepherd, being a non exec director of the charity BHT Sussex and an owner and shareholder of Lewes football club.
Bringing over 20 years of experience of working in the NHS, with some of that time at the Royal Sussex County hospital, Maria will campaign passionately to protect local NHS services. Maria said, “I am hugely honoured to have been selected as I have lived in the area for over ten years and it is fantastic to have the chance to represent the towns and villages that I know so well.”
On the issues she intends to campaign on she added, “Talking to local people, common issues across the Constituency include; poor public transport and road networks, lack of phone signal and access to high speed broadband which my colleagues on East Sussex County council are working hard to improve, new housing developments and supporting farmers and rural villages who are struggling in these hard economic times.”
